RUNS GREEN STEPPING STONE?
Green Stepping Stone was founded by Dominique
Vissenberg and Dr. Karen Eckert, Executive Director of WIDECAST, and is
administered by Dominique and Arjen Hilhorst, based in Spain.
In 1997 Dominique received a Master of Science
degree at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, with a major in
Animal Behaviour / Ecology and in PR and Communication. Since then she
has designed and executed projects and campaigns for several
environmental and animal organisations.
Fascinated by the creative part of grant
writing, she became an advisor between project assessors and non-profit
organisations at a governmental fund for the Dutch Antilles (AMFO).
Yet, the drive remained to stay involved in environmentally related
projects. Gradually the two worlds combined and with this initiative she
created the opportunity to have an impact on nature conservation efforts
by strengthening other organisations.
Besides the day to day administrative
activities, Arjen handles the finances and marketing of Green Stepping
Stone. Before he became part of the Green Stepping Stone, his field of
work was in commerce and office management and accounting. A combination
of his personal interest in the interest groups of Green Stepping Stone
and the success of Green Stepping Stone resulted in being a permanent
part of this organisation.
